How do I set a Stop Loss using a "stop market" or "stop limit" order

A Stop market order can be created and submitted using a "Stop market" or "Stop limit" order. Procedures for both order types are shown below respectively: 

 

  • How to set a stop loss using a "Stop market" order

1) In the order entry window, select "Stop market" from the drop-down menu ("Other").

2) Select the price trigger price method for the "Stop" value. For this select either the mark, last or index price as the applicable trigger price method.

DISCLAIMER: Please note that the selected trigger price method can significantly affect the timing of when your order is triggered.

3) Insert the preferred stop loss price ("Stop") and size.  Select the preferred time in force function ("GTC" or "IOC"), Attributes ("Post-Only" and/or "Reduce-Only") and lastly the direction (Buy or Sell).
